IN SEARCH
OF LIGHT

“These paintings are created to be shared, doorways of Light and remembrance for a world in transition. Together, we form a community that chooses the Light.”

– Susan Smith

BIOGRAPHY

Susan Smith is a British abstract artist and homeopath whose work explores how paint and colour can carry intention, Light, and healing. Her paintings are living prayers, conversations with the infinite, portals that shift frequency and open space for new wisdom to enter. They invite us to receive what is meant for us: the ideas that shape a new life, the fulfilment already encircling us, waiting to manifest at any time.

LISTENING TO THE UNSEEN

THE ESSENCE OF EVERYTHING

IN DARKNESS, TURN ON THE LIGHT

PRAYERS ARE ANSWERED

My work began with a question: Can a painting be imbued with a healing frequency similar to a homeopathic remedy?

As an artist and a homeopath, I look beneath the surface of things. In homeopathy, I search for the hidden cause, the root of imbalance, sometimes carried across lifetimes. In painting, I am drawn to the unseen, the energy of the upper realms, the graces that move through our lives in times of darkness. Both are acts of listening for what is hidden and giving it form.

THE ESSENCE OF EVERYTHING

When I began painting from the Zohar, the foundational text of Kabbalah, I found myself drawn to certain Aramaic letters. I would sit transfixed by their shapes, painting them over and over. I felt a mix of relief, elation, and majesty. I had no idea what I was painting, but my soul remembered, and it was magical. From those passages, I painted only radiance, pure Light flowing into form.

But with the Names of God, the work became something else. Each Name holds both the earthly challenge and the heavenly solace, the cause and effect of misalignment through lifetimes and the Light that restores it. In painting the Names, I was painting the dark as much as the Light, and coming to understand that in truth they are not separate.

Susan Smith (b.1972; Yorkshire, UK) creates spaces of transcendence, abundance, and spiritual joy through a diverse practice including paintings, works on board, video, and sound installations. Her unique visual language captures a channelled essence, exploring the duality of being human: from the depths of the ego's lies to the grace of the upper realms. Smith's works are meditations of spiritual self-discovery, serving as doorways into our soul's awareness and the returning Light of the Heavens.

Her colours and materials are chosen intuitively, responding to the energetic truth of each layer. From deep blues, hints of light blue violet, subtle pinks, to bursts of cadmium yellow, every brush stroke is a meditation—a communion with the canvas in service to the intention of the channelled Light.

Central to Smith’s artistic process is a way of seeing shaped by her background in homeopathy. Inspired by Martin Miles’ vision of homeopathy as an art that transforms patterns and elevates consciousness, she approaches painting with the same depth of observation. She attunes to subtle shifts of energy, light, and form. Just as the homeopath perceives the hidden order within symptoms, Smith traces the underlying rhythms within her subjects, revealing their essence through colour and gesture. Smith’s works are invitations to transcendence—living prescriptions of Light.

Susan Smith’s background in homeopathy informs her commitment to sharing the Light within her paintings. Through the intimate process of potentising paint, she imbues each work with the energetic signature of her subject. Extending this practice, her expertise in graphic design is evident in her immersive video works. Here, the moving image, music, and narration are carefully structured to weave together wisdom from Kabbalah, quantum physics, and unseen realms—effectively opening portals into the depths of each painting and inviting the viewer into a more profound energetic encounter.
